What’s included in the admission price?
Standard Windsor Castle tickets usually include access to:
- See inside the walls of Windsor Castle and have a chance to discover the highlights around the quadrant.
- You will get access to a multimedia guide to help you on your tour around the Castle.
- See St George’s Chapel (except on Sunday), one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in England and the burial place of notable monarchs.
- You will visit the State Apartments that the Royal Family frequently uses, including the semi state rooms with their historical significance and remarkable interiors. Admire paintings by Van Dyck and other masters in the Royal Collection.
- Entry into the private apartments designed for Charles II and George VI.
- Visit the most famous dolls house in the world, Queen Mary’s dolls house, featuring intricate details such as working lifts, running water, and electricity.
- Try out the Moat Room, where you can learn interactively all about the Castle’s history.
- Free access to the learning centre and participate in the pop-up workshops that again give a new way to learn about the history of Windsor Castle. These activities are especially engaging for children and families.
- Free access to the Undercroft café, where you can relax with some food and drink during your visit. A helpful note is that much of the food is sourced from the Royal Farms at Windsor.
A final useful note is that you can get a 1-year free re-admission on your ticket by asking guest services to convert your ticket to the 1-Year free pass. This means you can visit on multiple days during your stay in Windsor or just pop in another time for a cup of tea!
Some areas may close temporarily due to official events or services, but tickets remain valid for the rest of the site.

How Long Do You Need at Windsor Castle?

Windsor Castle Closures
Please note that the Castle is closed to visitors on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Additionally, it’s important to be aware that access to the beautiful St. George’s Chapel is limited after 2:30 PM, so visitors should plan their visit accordingly.
Important Information about booking for Windsor Castle
Tickets are available at discount prices if you book directly through our site. However, if you are to book directly on the day at Windsor Castle (subject to availability), or directly online with the Windsor Castle Trust then these tickets will be more expensive. With our service you get up to a 24-hour cancellation policy with a full refund, so you don’t lose out if your plans change.
Please note that the Castle may close at short notice for royal events or ceremonies, so visitors should check for updates before their visit. During the summer, the Castle is open on the following Tuesdays, with exceptions listed on the official website.
The Castle is open every day, except Tuesday and Wednesday, except for Christmas Day and Boxing Day and generally from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm (however, this is date-dependent, and you can find more details below). From November through February, the Castle closes earlier, and October marks the start of the autumn season with adjusted hours. Autumn is a popular time for special offers and seasonal access to Windsor Castle. The Castle is often busiest in the morning and does sell out; therefore, it is recommended to book tickets in advance.
